Scrumptious Fried Calamari

 

FRIED CALAMARI Who doesn’t love FRIED CALAMARI?

Everybody in my household does; and If I didn’t prepare this dish, my son D’Angelo would have probably had heart failure.  I gotta please him, not only because I love him, but to stop him from annoying the heck outta me. And boy did he have a grand time enjoying these scrumptious appetizers. He kept dipping the calamari into the sauce repeatedly. All you could hear was, “mommy this is amazing!”

I also prepared a mushroom marinara sauce which served justice royally to the scrumptious calamari. I made the marinara sauce from scratch as well. It’s so easy! I did puree the sauce to give it a smooth texture, just before serving. Fresh ingredients + love = flavors to the umpteenth power.

Most people cringe at the thought of eating octopus, but no not I.  Calamari isn’t octopus, however it stems from the same species. Calamari is actually a squid. I refer to it as a baby octopus because that is what it appears to be.  I rarely eat out, and that’s simply because I cook just about everything from scratch.  I am my biggest fan and lover of my culinary creations. Y’all don’t ever wanna hear me moan in ecstasy when I eat my food.  It’s sickening, but in a good way.  If  I do decide to eat out and calamari happens to be on the menu; you can bet your last dollar that I will indeed have a serving on my plate.

Oh and if y’all having started buying that Japanese PANKO bread crumbs, go ahead and try it. It’s awesome. I did the triple dip for this one: flour, egg whites (because I hate that egg yolk flavor on meat), then Japanese panko.  It ROCKS!!!!
