OMG OMG I done did it again! I’m such a bad ass in my sanctuary! Who created this culinary monster! My other half tells me, that he has never seen anyone enjoy their OWN food as much as I do. I laugh to the sound of that because he sho’ ain’t lying. I spend effortless time, executing all this d’lusciousness and do believe that I should enjoy every minute of it.  What I love about my culinary delights, is that I ensure each dish includes an array of my farmers’ market finds.  I’ve really been going hard on whole foods and my body feels so much better. It’s like the more I eat, the flatter my tummy gets. Real talk. And I don’t count calories. What for? If you eat smart, there is no need to. Counting calories is tedious and takes the fun out of what should be celebrated.

I rarely shop at the supermarket these days. The farmers market carries seasonal produce and summer time is a lot boasty than any time of the year. I really look forward to my weekly escapades, supporting local farmers. Even when my fridge is stocked and I know I don’t need a damn thing, I still haul my ass out there with my cart, hoping that I will see something that I don’t have…and I usually do. LOL. It’s like I don’t wanna miss anything.
I’m like, “what if they have something that they didn’t have last week?”
Can someone say OCD?  There’s always some kinda earth food that I’ve never experienced or seen before. And y’all know me; I’m buying it. I do not stick with the familiar. I love variety!

I’ve always juiced bitter melon, but on this day, a little voice told me to roast it.  I roast everything! The day I learned about roasting was a great day! I roast fish all the time. It’s one of my most treasured cooking techniques. I favor this style so much that I had to include similar recipes in my cookbook.

There was a bounty of earth foods and I sure was happy with my selection.  Including the patty pan squash and the sweet potatoes, eliminated the need for jasmine rice, which my children so love. I still cook anything most of the things that my children request without imposing my healthy lifestlye on them. (Sometimes I do). However, I educate them, and allow them to make their own decisions until they arrive at, or exceed my level of consciousness. But like I said, I did not miss the rice and you wont either. What rice?
