The Flu is Not a Season

 


The flu is not a season! It’s the inability to adapt due to decreased sun exposure and water intake, combined with increased sugar and stress. Quite contrary to what you may have heard or believe; there is no such thing as the flu season. There has never been a flu season. I haven’t had the flu in 8 years. Why is that? Has the flu season been missing me? Everyone else around me seems to be getting sick, coughing, sniffling, headaches, body aches, but no, not I, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  I seriously can’t remember the last time I had the flu. It’s been almost 6 years since I’ve used prescription or over the counter medication. The minute I became aware of the dangers of prescription drugs and discovered the power of fruits and vegetables, I emptied my medicine cabinet and started juicing.


My kitchen counter and refrigerator has now earned the title of “my medicine cabinet” aka “my farmacy.” This is how I create health. This is how I create resistance. Vaccines do not create health or resistance. Eat foods from the earth and watch your body heal.


This is the top half of my refrigerator. I know it looks like it can hardly breathe but that’s okay. I’m eating to live and that’s why the flu pays absolutely no attention to me.


I seriously love farmer’s market and support local farmer’s in every which way I can. I’d rather pay the farmer now than pay the doctor later.


When your immune system is weakened, you are more susceptible to any sickness, not just the flu. Contracting the flu simply means that your immune system is weak. I ain’t even gonna sugar coat it. Before I go any further, let me just say that “healthy” people are not exempt from getting sick; however, the duration of the illness in a ‘healthy’ person is much shorter than those who aren’t committed to their health. When I use the word healthy, I’m referring to individuals who flood their bodies with nutrients from fruits and vegetables and have joy in their life.All the over the counter sniffling, sneezing, coughing so you can rest medicine is a waste of time, money and energy . They do not rid you of the flu. They suppresses your immune system and put you to sleep. The minute you wake up, oops there goes that cough again. There goes that runny nose again. And the fever? Please don’t get me started. There is no healing in over the counter or prescription drugs but there is healing in coconut water, so drink your water. To hydrate on a therapeutic level, the rule of thumb is: each day, you should be drinking half of your body’s weight in ounces.  That means, if you weigh 120 pounds, you should be drinking 60 ounces each day.


Your water doesn’t have to be coconut water. There are many ways to boost your immunity. Keeping your body hydrated is as simple as making your own vitamin, alkaline water by  adding your favorite fruits, vegetables and herbs to distilled or spring water.


Remember when you were younger and your grandma or mother made you soup when you were feeling under the weather? This age old trick works relentlessly to relieve me of any symptoms that are uncomfortable. All my senses comes alive over a steaming bowl of soup. The hot steam rises into my nostrils and loosens up the airways and congestion, so I can breath diaphragmatically and smell the wonderful aroma created from the bounty of earth foods.  If you already have the flu, keep drinking homemade soup. It works like magic. It is magic!
And by the way, there are no noodle packets loaded with sodium, words that I can’t pronounce, artificial ingredients, food dyes and other nasties in my homemade soup.

In this time and age, I personally can’t fathom having the flu for 7-10 days or longer, when there’s so much information about preventing the flu. Let me sniffle for one day, just one minute and I guarantee you that within less than 3 days, that sniffle will be unheard of. I just don’t play that sick shit. I’ve got way too much to do and being sick does not fit into the equation or my lifestyle. Everyday I drink at least a quart of raw juice or smoothie like this bowl of simple pineapple juice. Juicers and blenders are God sent!
