Beef….it’s what’s for dinner!
Beef isn’t one of those meats that I eat on a daily basis, however I do finesse the heck out of it, and enjoy every minute whenever at all possible. Every now and then I get the craving for beef and today was one of them. I knew exactly what I would do with it once I left the supermarket and made it home. I would marinate and cook it the next day.
I was so worn out from shopping that I decided to save all my cooking preparations for the next day. Grocery shopping is a job within itself for me. I take different trips to different merchants for more affordable bargains. I refer to myself as an educated consumer. If you have ever seen what one of my grocery list looks like, you would definitely understand why I want to get the best bang for my buck.
Oh here’s a photo of one of my grocery list.
Anyway, once I arrived home, I was careful enough not to freeze it, so I left it at the bottom of the fridge so that it would continue to maintain its freshness (I would have for it to spoil because steak isn’t cheap). Getting a head start on my steak would reduce the preparation time, and I wouldn’t have to worry about thawing it out.
I thought about all types of steak sandwiches. I really did. When you’re a foodie, you think food all the time. Food becomes you. Seriously. I envisioned a foot long ciabatta filled with grilled vegetables, steak and cheese. I thought about steak pizzas. I thought about fajitas. Then…. then…..I thought of peppered steak. Yes…that’s it… I would cook peppered steak and if there were any left overs, I would make steak fajitas. So I grabbed my pen and notebook, so that I could save all the intricate details of preparing my own version of peppered steak. I jazzed it up by adding baby bella mushrooms and my own personal home made steak sauce. It’s a really simple sauce which adds depth of flavor. I don’t buy steak sauces. I simply create magic in the kitchen by combining ingredients that results in a tangy, flavorful, delectable sauce.
I’m a spice queen whom you can also refer to as a season lady with a very sophisticated palate. My tongue indicates if the flavors are perfect or needs improvement. I don’t know how to explain this special gift but I thank God for my tongue. I use fresh ingredients. I find that by utilizing fresh ingredients, I develop a more enticing meal. I mean, all the awesomeness evolves into one big pot of love. I so wish I could break off just a little piece of the steak and feed it to you through the screen. It is such an experience worth waiting for.
