Curried Golden Crab

Living in Florida definitely has its advantages. Wherever you reside, you are still in close proximity to the water. I get the opportunity to purchase most of my seafood, straight off the boat. Whatever they haul in for the day, is exactly what would be sold. The beauty of it, is that it is always fresh. I haven’t had any complaints.

Initially I went to the fish market, to browse the catch of the day. Well of course I needed fish! A foodie like me, WILL NOT BROWSE for food. A purchase will be made. I would be mad as hell if I went into any grocery store with no money. Anyway,  after much admiration of the fresh, wild caught fishes, I would be returning home with my own bag of fish. Now, being the nosy person that I am, which is only (when food is involved), I glanced over the cashier’s shoulder and noticed crabs. Were they saving it for the gentleman who came in with two oversized igloos?  Did he call ahead and made his request? While I didn’t have the answers for those questions,  I knew one thing for sure: I was not going to leave there without some of those golden crabs.

The minute I saw them, I began to visualize the authentic dish that would be created. I didn’t want garlic crabs, no…not today. Curry would be the main ingredient (besides the crab) today. I don’t think I have every pampered a sauce, as much as I did this one. It just had to be perfect. Every bite of the crab…. the claws….  the clusters had to be kissed with the curry sauce.

There was very little patience coming from my family; as they were all ready to devour the crab. But they all are aware that photos have to be taken first. As soon as I laid the camera down, it was a wrap! My son, D’Angelo couldn’t get enough and requested seconds. Then he made a statement: “the spiciness is good for my asthma too!” He is such a smart boy and knows exactly how to manipulate me.
