Each day just before I insert the key into the ignition in my car, I make it a priority to search my pocket book for my cell phone (that is if I am not talking on it and I am always on my cell). I use the same practice when shopping for my produce. Whenever I go to the farmers market, I never leave without cucumbers. Cucumbers are seriously underrated. I don’t know about you but it does wonders for my body. Just about every drink that is prepared in my kitchen includes cucumbers and I must admit, I drink cucumbers more than I eat them.
The other day at the farmers market, I ran into this lady who was seriously digging into the pile of cucumbers. It was like 3 for $1.19 and she was about to get her money’s worth. She was standing on a crate so that she could maneuver and get to all the cukes that were not easily accessible. I was just standing there in awe, observing this woman. She was reaching for the largest cucumbers. I wanted that large ones too, but I didn’t go looking for a crate to boost my height. We eventually struck up a conversation and she began telling me how she used to grow her own cucumbers back home. I think she was from Haiti. I said, ” I thought I had some huge cucumbers in my cart but it seems as if you’ve found larger ones.” She explained how she enjoyed making smoothies with the cukes. I had to interject: “me too.” We talked about how the cucumbers looked as if they were giving birth, before we finally went our separate ways. It was really nice to see someone else other than myself who was in love with cucumbers.
Strawberries enhances the flavor of the drink I was about to prepare. A lot of individuals dispose of their fruits, such as strawberries, whenever they become soft, or are not as firm or fresh, as it was when it was just purchased. Not me. Just because it doesn’t appear to be perfect, doesn’t mean that it isn’t edible. I repurpose my strawberries into smoothie, juices or fruit compotes.
All of my juices are tasty, refreshing and d’luscious! This was no exception.
