Tis the season to eat lots of apple pies! The apples are now posted out front, in visible sight everywhere! If my memory serves me correct; I picked up a 7 pound bag of ginger crisp apples….yeah….I think it was 7 pounds… and knew I would be using them wisely. I love ginger “anything!” I decided to make a drink since I didn’t have any apple cider. I LOVE apple cider! I have never really used apples in my smoothies or juices. I usually just eat them as is or transform them into compotes for pancakes and cakes and stuff. Since I almost always have pineapples on hand, I decided to blend them together. In total, I added a 2 lemons. It tasted really refreshing and it guess what? It didn’t need a sweetener. This one could definitely ride solo. It was amazingly d’luscious all on its own.
I started out with:
3 ginger gold apples with skin
2 cups of pineapple
1 lemon
and filled the pitcher up to the 6 1/2 cups watermark
Since it exceeded my expectations, I decided to make a second batch, but this time I would add some ginger to it. Did I mention that I LOVE ginger? Yes I did. I love to feel the burn and I enjoy that spiciness when I add ginger to my juices. My son, D’Angelo loves the burn too.
In the 2nd batch, I added:
2 big pieces of ginger and cut it into chunks
2 ginger gold apples with skin
1 lemon
I filled it with water up tot the 9 cup water mark. I didn’t actually measure how many cups of water. I just poured the water in and stopped at that line. You can use this as a guide.
I gave it another whirl in the blender and strained it and pour it into my bowl. I’m gonna have to make this juice more often.
