Surviving cancer and fighting endometriosis has totally transformed my life. Fiber has become a necessity, and if I don’t get enough, I literally go into withdrawal. Juicing has become habitual. Some people crave sweets but I crave earth foods. Right around that time of the month, I seriously crave vegetables. Not cold veggies though. I prefer warm veggies around that time. When my body speaks, I listen.
A few months ago, I visited one of my relatives. The house was filled with food like substances. After being there for a few hours I was literally starving! I wanted to make tea but couldn’t find any fresh herbs. I decided to search the kitchen cupboards with the hopes of finding tea bags. Sure I did and guess what? The tea bag product had an amazing flavor profile that included peach and some kinda herbs. I thought I had scored big and was so excited to try this teabag. But then my nosey ass went and READ THE INGREDIENTS.
Why did I do that?
Soy was listed as an ingredient. Talk about disappointed.
When I was diagnosed with cancer, I was instructed by the oncologist to refrain from soy, because of its high estrogenic properties and was linked to breast cancer.
I called it a day and boiled some water and drank it solo. No, I couldn’t find any lemon either. Everyone was eating (food like substances). I really wanted to educate them but based on the occasion, it just wasn’t the time or place to talk about whole foods or holistic lifestyle. We were all grieving due to the death of one of our relatives. To satisfy my soul, I took a trip to a local farmer’s market and helped myself to some goodies.
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the only option I was given was surgery or radiation. I wasn’t aware of healing and nourishing the body with earth foods and natural supplements. With the choices presented to me, I chose to have bilateral mastectomy. That was back in 2005 (somewhere around there). I didn’t want the poison from radiation, especially after the surgeon informed me that even after radiation, the cancer may reappear in some other location in my body (meaning I’d have to keep returning to the hospital for more radiation). Since, I wasn’t promised a cure and radiation would only put a band aid on the cancer; I decided to remove both breast.
I wish I was educated about raw foods and alternative medicine back then. That choice was never offered to me by the surgeons or any of the doctors in the hospital. It’s my bitter sweet journey. Because of cancer and edometriosis, I became health conscious which developed into a higher level of awareness. In order for me to become the messenger to others, that experience was necessary. I have been juicing and blending religiously.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t hate doctors. They serve their purpose. I just wish they were trained to heal with natural medicine as opposed to surgery and prescription drugs.
Practicing an array of protocols aids in my fight to keep cancer and any chronic disease away from my Temple. Difala detox supplement is one that I use for a gentle detox. One teaspoon twice a day in my smoothies or juices is all I need to feel even more nourished. I prefer to add natural fiber from smoothies and juices to difala to help those nasty little toxins in moving along and out of my body. Difala supplement aids in the removal of heavy metals from the body. I believe all cancer patients (especially after chemotherapy) would benefit tremendously by incorporating natural products into their lifestyle. Oh, just in case you wanted to know, I purchased Difala supplement here.
Another reason I like difala is that it dissolves really well into my juices and smoothies. When using edible clay, you should NOT use metal vessel to stir. It will cling/adhere to the metal. It is highly recommended to use a wooden or ceramic spoon to stir your edible clays into liquids.
And now! A round of applause for this sexy cucumber apple mint juice!
Because I’m beating those heavy metals and toxins to the ground!
How are you nourishing your Temple?
