…And if I ever come to your house and find a box of mashed potatoes in your pantry…..I’m simply going to give you the blank stare and ask “like seriously?” And just to let your know, I do say ‘like seriously?’ a lot, especially your actions perplexes me. Some things make absolutely NO SENSE to ME. And if I happen to demonstrate a behavior that makes absolutely NO SENSE to you, it’s okay for you to look at me and ask, ‘like seriously?’ Then be prepared for my one million and one questions, because I will want to be educated on why your opinion happens to be different from mine. Yes I yearn for knowledge.
As you all know, I play with my food more than the average person does. Sometimes I play just a little bit too much. What can I say? I’m adventurous. New, unfamiliar and exciting food happens to be my thing. I must say, cooking has to be the most fun ever! No I’m not crazy. I’m a culinary enthusiast. Food fascinates me period. I am patient with my food. Developed flavors are boss. Flavors takes time to harmonize, hence my patience. I will never rush MY potatoes. I will take my own time and make my own time, to wash and peel them.
Oh here’s a tip: boil potatoes in their skin and test with a knife for tenderness. Drain water and smash the potatoes in their skin. I love potatoes with the skin. They’re good for you too. That’s called SMASHED POTATOES. If you’re not into skins, go ahead and peel them. You’ll find the taste to be super amazing; a richer flavor and consistency because they were boiled naked, so they’re not soupy from absorbing all that water. I used a cookie cutter to plate my potatoes. I have some of those double sided cookie cutters, with one smooth and one ripple edge. I hadn’t planned on doing that, but as soon as I begin to plate, the light bulb goes off in my head.
Snappers and salmon are my favorite fishes, but because my body needs variety….and because I’m a foodie, I tend to switch things up every now and then. Ok, I switch things up a lot. Must I say; the grilled ahi tuna was awesome with the white wine mustard sauce. I used whole grain mustard. Whomever invented mustard is a genius! Yes our creator is a genius. Mustard, just like coconut milk makes everything taste better. And no, there isn’t any coconut milk in here. I’m just saying…..Mustard with grilled Ahi tuna. Mustard on potatoes. It all came together and complimented each other perfectly.
