What Diva doesn’t enjoy shopping? Who doesn’t appreciate a great sale? Everyone has passion and enthusiasm for something. If you are totally uninspired, then may God bless your soul. We wouldn’t be human, if we lacked inspiration. We all splurge every now and then, to fill a void or to receive instant gratification.
My passion is FOOD, feeding others and interior design. A huge chunk of my finances are allocated in those areas. I manage my household; a family of five, that has an insatiable appetite. My grandma and son D’Angelo will eat you out of house and home. It seems as if they are both in close competition with their appetites. Being that I am responsible for them both, I HAVE to feed them. I DO NOT believe in the word hungry. I refuse to include it in my vocabulary and it should NEVER be a part of anyone’s vocabulary. Surely, if our schedules are hectic, we may miss a meal, causing our brains to signal our bellies, and we may express ourselves as being hungry. (I’m not talkin about that hungry). I’m referring to being hungry because food is unattainable and unaffordable; having to choose between prescription drugs/medicine and food; or buying clothing and, materialistic items while refusing to feed your own children due to selfishness.
I REFUSE to splurge on the latest outfit or gadget and go hungry. My “TEMPLE” doesn’t stand for that. My glucose level and anemia would plunge at an all time low. I’m not at all anxious for any free rides in anyone’s ambulance. I too love the finer things in life, however, I can only wear one shoes at a time. If I have several other pairs in the closet, then it isn’t a necessity. I can only wear one outfit at a time, so that cute little dress on sale, will just have to take back seat, because my belly takes precedence over all things…well most things. When I’m on a budget I mean business. My family will not be hungry due to my selfishness or anything that relates to my “self.” Why would I want to take my last dollar to purchase an outfit, to impress superficial individuals that aren’t looking out for my best interest? It’s just not my style.
Besides Love, my house is NEVER void of Food. Even on days that I’m temporary out of cash, there will always be food for my family. Even if the pantry or refrigerator is running low, there is still enough to feed my family until I’m able to replenish. THANK GOD FOR THAT! I’m often told that I’m always on a budget, except when food is involved. I find it funny but it is true.
You really don’t have to sell an arm and a leg, or your birthright to eat d’lusciously healthy. The foods that you thought you needed and had to have, in order to survive, probably weren’t the healthiest choices. The subliminal messages that are transmitted through the media, television, advertisement etc. that convinces you to purchased foods which are mostly processed, are profitable to the manufacturers and heavy on our pockets. It really doesn’t benefit us at all. What it will do, is make you so sick that you become dependent on prescription drugs which usually has multiple side effects.
I may wear the same shoes every day, not because it’s the only pair that I own…..and even if it was my only pair….it’s mine! But I can darn sure tell you….my cup overfloweth, my plate is colorful from a variety of foods from the earth, and I am full.
THE LORD IS MY SHEPHERD. I SHALL NOT WANT.
