My son Robert is the world biggest akee consumer. I’ve never seen an American born child that loves ackee so much. If he could have it his way, it would be ackee with cod fish/salt fish every single time. Funny enough, my younger son D’Angelo will only eat cauliflower if it’s served with ackee. I guess that brings me to one conclusion: D’Angelo is more of a salad eater and Robert isn’t. So what am I blessed with? Two unique children, borne of the same domestic goddess with different traits and personalities. Night and day. The only similarities they both possess is devouring my d’luscious culinary creations and for that I love them even more. Can you imaging what my world would be like if my children did eat?
As much as I live for the kitchen, I’d be totally devastated if I had a family of picky eaters or even worse, a family that didn’t enjoy anything that I made. Since birth, I’ve introduced my Robert and D’Angelo to a variety of foods, and even though they both have their preferences, they pretty much eat up.
The foodie in me is adventurous; alway wanting to create something new. I’m a tried and true ackee fanatic and indeed a true vegetable lover; so it makes perfect sense to combine both earth foods to bring forth a miraculous dining experience. Being seated at any table or anywhere in the world, enjoying a bowl of goodness, such as ackee and purple cauliflower truly represents God’s blessings on my family and I.
…And for those who prefer to eat ackee the traditional way. Go ahead. The choice is always yours.
Have you ever tried ackee with cauliflower?
