Nature’s skittles are wholesome and whole foods are indeed healthier. A bounty of fruit always puts a smile on my face especially when my all natural fruit cup runneth over. Yes, my culinary passion brings me so much joy! As I find who I’m truly becoming; everything nowadays seems to be on the back burner. I love my family and close friends dearly but I am HUNGRY for knowledge and I’m always researching. I want to know EVERYTHING there is to know about natural foods. I want to be well versed on the health benefits of everything that I consume. I’m not a vegetarian or vegan. I still enjoy meat even though there are days when I just don’t care for it. I don’t believe in removing a particular food group from my diet. I’m not on a restricted diet. I’m still a work in progress, have so much more to learn and lots more information to analyze.
Unhealthy eating habits creates an acidic environment, which causes disease to thrive, hence the chronic illness that most people are faced with. I’ve learned that eating whole foods from the earth helps to create and alkaline environment. Disease cannot thrive in an alkaline body. Our bodies can heal on their own without over the counter or prescription medication. I am a living testimony. Even though I’m not completely healed. I’m doing and feeling a whole lot better than I did three years ago.
Endometriosis had me bed ridden with excruciating pain each month for 7 days, but not anymore. Juicing helps to ease the pain, and there’s something about those berries! Oh they REALLY help. I like to use the berries to make what I call slushers. I throw them in a blender with some ice, a spring of mint, and the juice of one or two lemon which results in one of the most refreshing, sugar free drinks.
I don’t like anything cold during my monthly cycle. It seems to stagnate the blood and cause more cramping. I don’t even like to feel anything wet on my belly or my feet. (I have been taking notes and tracking my progress). Even if I’m washing the dishes and the water splashes on my belly and soaks through my clothes, I have to remove my shirt or shorts and lie down. Walking barefooted on tiled floors, seems to exacerbate the pain. So during that time of the month, I do my best to avoid those scenarios. If you are aware of, or even suffers from endometriosis, fibroids or adenomyosis, you’re probably asking yourself: “how pray tell is she able to walk or wash dishes during her cycle and she says she has endometriosis?” Well, that’s because I’ve changed my eating habits. Therefore, no processed food cups for me. I prefer to eat nature’s skittles: REAL FRUITS.
There are some foods, such as wheat that exacerbates my pain. I can’t do wheat flour at all. Strange enough white flour doesn’t seem to aggravate my symptoms. Now keep in mind, that that’s just my body and I’m not saying the same will work for you. You have to create a log of what you eat and how your body reacts, then you will understand what works for you. I’ may even try going gluten free for about 30 days to see if there is a noticeable difference. Y’all know I’ve got my high powered blender. I’ve been making my own spices and definitely will be making my own flours as well.
The majority of my food intake is all natural. I really do make every effort. I remember those days when fear would overtake my entire being as I anticipated that dreadful day: the onset of my period. I’m so afraid of the pain and I never want to experience that level of pain ever again!
Endometriosis pain level is equivalent to labor pains.
I FEAR eating out. I really do. Whenever I do have to eat out, trust and believe, I usually search for a restaurant that has a FARM TO TABLE approach.
When grocery shopping, I sometimes try to find snacks for my children. I mean, I really don’t want to deprive them. BUT, if the food labels has those scientific words that I can’t pronounce and a gazillion ingredients, it’s going back on the shelf. And some of those so called healthy snacks aren’t really healthy either. Everything has soy, soy, soy and I don’t do soy. So, unless I prepare snacks at home (homemade cakes, muffins, onion rings, fish cakes, banana fritters, granola etc) snacks in our house are mostly nuts and fruits.
Yeah I know….I’ve got way too much time on my hands.
No not really.
I MAKE TIME FOR MY HEALTH. Seriously. Matter of fact, unless I’m picking up items such as beans, rice, vinegar, himalayan pink salt, black strap molasses, baking soda or pasta, I RARELY walk in the middle isles of the supermarket. I shop on the outskirts. That’s where the fruits and vegetables are.
My natural fruit cup includes, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, kiwi and pomegranate.
No preservatives or food coloring added.
