Quite often I receive requests for vegetarian dishes. Most of my dishes are indeed vegetarian IF you eliminate the meat; be it chicken, seafood or beef. It’s really that easy. I’m always in the habit of reinventing or tweaking dishes, hence this steamed callaloo with cabbage. I love, almost raw, crunchy cabbage. My grandma hates that and is usually debating the loss of nutrients when vegetables are overcooked. She can debate all she wants, I refuse to cook soggy cabbage. Maybe…just maybe one day, I’ll give in to her request,
In the meantime, it’s almost raw cabbage and steamed callaloo. It’s a good thing, I’m not in the habit of eating raw callaloo, cause she would probably have a fit. The only time I consume callaloo in it’s raw state is by juicing it, which is super potent, but that’s a whole other story.
Another reason I’m kinda into cabbage is due to its detoxing effects. If cabbage in my house, I’m definitely gonna make sure, and find more ways than one to include it in my d’uscious meals, whether it’s vegetarian or not..
