I’ve always loved the Chinese vegetable, bok choy. I incorporate it into many of my dishes. I had to put an immediate stop to my husband and really fast, when I noticed that he was an addict, for this shrimp dish at a specific Chinese take out restaurant. This wasn’t an occasional treat. He ordered this religiously. He craved this frequently…like a pregnant woman, and would eat it on a daily basis, if he could.
Now you know me….No husband of mine will be eating take out each day! Period. Are you kidding me? Not when he has a foodie wife. I darn sure wasn’t going to waste our money, knowing that my authentic creations packed way more flavor. I have no clue what or the quality of the ingredients involved in the restaurant’s dish. However, I am aware of every single ingredient in my own authentic creations.
So, of course I had to show off and prepare my own version of Shrimp Stir Fry, and boy did I show out! I do have to point out that the order from the restaurant was packed with more vegetables and less shrimp. It might as well have been called: Stir Fry Vegetables. I mean, seriously, it held a ton load of vegetables and maybe five shrimp. If I were to do the math, which I always do, I could’ve done better at the grocery store, depending on if the shrimp were on sale or not. I could’ve purchased a pound or two for the same price of the entire Chinese take out.
Like I said, I showed off and I showed out. After giving my husband the taste test, I asked, “honey how does it taste?” He replied, “Good.” I responded with: Nothing I cook is “good.” Whenever I ask you a question about my food, your responses should be “excellent.” Now his responses are more acceptable and he has ceased from buying Chinese take out. Let’s just face it…my food is darn excellent. LOL.
My point has been proven. I rest my case. Court is adjourned!
