I’m Craving Turkey – Jerk Turkey

We’re only in the month of September and I am already having turkey anxiety. I have been craving turkey as if it’s a rare commodity. No I am not pregnant, so I must have a turkey deficiency….LOL. You know the saying: when your body craves something, it’s because you have a deficiency.  Well if you know me, you will also know that I LOVE my body, and will do my best to provide it with all the nutrients that it needs.

The other day while I was hanging out with my friend Stacy,  I mentioned this deep crave that I was having….and lo and behold…she said, “I have a turkey!” Now Stacey will tell you that my turkey is the best turkey there ever was! She swears by it and stands by it! So anyway, she gladly gave me the turkey. She would not have known what to do with it anyway.

I took the turkey home and worked my culinary magic on it. I seasoned the Jerk Turkey with my special blend of spices and herbs. The result: OMG is an understatement.  It was JUICY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND D’LUSCIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! I gave Stacey half of the turkey. It was only right. She is double delighted and in total awe! Whenever she collects food from my house to take home with her, she can never wait until she gets to her destination. She either sits in my kitchen and eat it OR if she does make it out the door with the with the food, at some point between where she is currently and where she is going, she is going to have a food anxiety attack and I can guarantee you, she is going to taste it, way before she even gets home. I think that’s called “eating while driving.”

So of course, as expected, she called me on her way home and had to rant and rave about “dis ya one ya!”  Translation: “this one here” referring to (“this jerk turkey here”).  So she complimented me once again and as usual she gets sort of animated whenever she expresses her love for my food. She stated that she has always said that my turkey was the best and of course she still stands by that statement, but “dis ya one ya tun up til it buk!” Translation: “This turkey here is so good it speaks volume and it’s turned all the way up. The tuner is at its highest level that it can’t go any further…it buck.”   She has an extremely difficult time understanding the technique that I used, to get the seasonings all up into what seems like every crevice and corner of the turkey. She enjoyed this turkey better than the one I had done last Thanksgiving and I know why….

Stacy was so blown away by the turkey that she had to leave a piece for another friend and vowed to call her friend before the night was over . She just wanted her friend to taste it. She just couldn’t indulge in all of this authentic wholesomeness without sharing it.  One of the abstract quality that Stacy possesses, is that she enjoys sharing and  is very caring. I love that about her. I’m gonna give her a call to see if she was obedient to herself and really saved a piece for her friend. I wanna see if she has will power.

You can find this recipe right here in my cookbook. You won’t be disappointed.

Do you think Stacy saved a piece of the turkey for her friend?
